I participated in this remake of the independent film classic with 20 other Austin filmmakers. The project was commissioned for the film's 20th anniversary by the Austin Film Society and the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas with the blessing of the director Richard Linklater. The filmmakers divided up the script and each of us put a new spin on our facorite scene.

Many thanks to everyone who helped us raise $20,000 through United States Artists to go towards the production of our Land Art film! There's more money to raise, but you've made sure that we'll be able to start production this fall. Much appreciated!

Along with 20 other filmmakers in Austin, we are diving up the script and each directing a couple of scenes to create an updated version of the film for it 20th anniversary later this year. The project has been commissioned by the Austin Film Society and Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas with the blessing of Linklater himself. SLACKER 2011 will premiere on August 31st with Richard Linklater in attendance for a Q&A following the screening.

In Alabama, Samuel Mockbee’s radical design/build program brought architecture to the rural poor and a new set of ethics to architecture. His legacy has inspired a generation of architects dedicated to design for social good.
